The San Francisco Giants continue to lick their wounds after the tough loss to the Dodgers in the last Division Series of the National League, and although there are many things to rescue heading to the 2022 season of MLB, there are quite a few pending considering that the team was built on many one-year contracts and there are a lot of free agents pending for San Francisco, including mid-season acquisition from the Chicago Cubs, Kris Bryant.
At the season-ending press conference, GM Farhan Zaidi along with manager Gabe Kapler discussed future plans, where they discussed activating the option on Buster Posey’s contract and negotiating with Brandon Belt for next year, but Zaidi mentioned to Kate Rooney of local network KRON4 about plans with Bryant in the winter, giving a somewhat ambiguous answer.
We recognize that Kris Bryant is a super stellar talent. Obviously he’s going to have a long list of suitors, so we have to see how the market develops in that regard.
Rooney’s sentiment is that the Giants don’t expect to have Kris Bryant back unless the right situation occurs in free agency, knowing that the former Cubs will be one of the most sought-after in the market.
