MLB: Dodgers ‘eyes’ on former St. Louis Cardinals All-Star reliever who didn’t pitch in 2022

Los Angeles Dodgers have been linked to free agent reliever Alex Reyes. MLB Trade Rumors contributor Matt Swartz had projected that the All-Star would receive $2.85MM in his penultimate trip through the arbitration process, but the St. Louis Cardinals opted not to make an offer to the flamethrower.

Kings, who was once ranked as one of the best prospects in all of baseball, he has dealt with ailments his entire career. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2017, tore a tendon in his back in 2018 and underwent shoulder surgery in 2020:

Following a healthy 2021 season in which Reyes earned All-Star honors while pitching with a 3.24 ERA in 72 1/3 innings with a robust 30.0% strikeout rate, albeit with a low walk rate, extremely high 16.4%, the lesions returned. Reyes would be forced to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery in May, wiping out his entire 2022 season.

Even though the 28-year-old, 6-foot-1 Alexander Reyes doesn’t have a clear return schedule, the Dodgers have earned a reputation for signing injured relievers to multi-year contracts with the expectation that the player performs in the later years of the agreement.

I am a fan of the King of Sports, especially the Boston Red Sox in MLB and in general all of Mexican baseball. Apart from this beautiful sport, I love basketball, where I have also narrated games and even an NBA friendly 10 years ago, but baseball is in my veins. In January 2009 I arrived at El Debate as a journalist reporter and it took almost six years (in the first stage), until in November 2014 I emigrated to radio, providing my services at Línea Directa-Grupo RSN. My cycle there ended in July 2019 and a few days later, El Debate gave me another opportunity to work and opened the doors for me again. That is how I came to Al Bat, where I have been since 2019 as a web journalist.
