MLB: Athletics Wants to Take the Bench Coach from Rays; has interviewed him several times

The Oakland Athletics have interviewed the bench coach of the Tampa Bay Rays, Matt Quatraro, in recent days, as part of his search for a new manager. He becomes the first known candidate to sit down with the Oakland bosses.

Strategist Kevin Cash’s top lieutenant for the past three seasons in Tampa Bay, met with Pittsburgh Pirates and the San Francisco Giants during the 2019-20 offseason and sat down with the Detroit Tigers last fall:

Oakland is on the hunt for a new foreman after Bob Melvin’s surprising departure to take over the dugout for the San Diego Padres. For the first time in more than a decade, the Athletics will enter a season without Melvin at the helm.
