During Tuesday’s game against the Red Soxthe Cuban outfielder for the Rays, Randy Arozarenahomered off veteran left-handed starter Rich Hill, who went over the center-field fence and hit one of the cameras installed at Tropicana Field from Tampa.
This is not the first time that a slugger hits a home run with such accuracy as to hit a camera in the stadium, because in the 1988 season, José Canseco did the same thing as Arozarena but the retired Cuban thing was during a game at Dodger Stadium in the World Series between his Athletics team, against the Los Angeles team. Below is the video of Arozarena knocking down the camera with his home run to the red sox:
In the end, the Rays beat Boston 8-4 and thus secured the three-game series in Florida. With this victory, Tampa (76-58) got closer to the Yankees (81-54) in the fight for the leadership of the American League East Division. They are now 4.5 games away from catching the Bombers, who can’t get out of a slump that began in August.
