MLB: Angels go for Robbie Ray and steal Eduardo Rodríguez

The Anaheim Angels are interested in signing lefties Robbie Ray and Eduardo Rodríguez in this dead season in the MLB.

As expected, according to Jon Morosi, the Anaheim Angels go all out for a couple of starting pitchers because that’s the only thing they have weak going into MLB 2022, two of them are Eduardo Rodríguez, Justin Verlander and Robbie Ray.

When it comes to Robbie Ray they are big words, as he aims to win the Cy Young in the American League for the first time in his career and just when he is a free agent, it is obvious that he is not going for a 1-2 year contract. The Angels are going to have to get the wallet out just like they did with Anthony Rendon and Mike Trout, Ray is the best left-handed pitcher in free agency.

Ray’s numbers in 2021

The Jays ace had a 13-7 record with a 2.84 ERA in 193.1 innings with 248 strikeouts, he led the AL in strikeouts and ERA.

Status

  • 6’2 tall
  • 30 years
  • 215 pounds
  • All-star
  • Effectiveness title
  • Experience in both MLB leagues

Eduardo Rodríguez of the Boston Red Sox has a qualifying offer on the table for one more season, otherwise try free agency to see how it goes.

Rodríguez numbers in 2021

  • 13 wins, 8 losses, 4.74 ERA, 157 innings and 185 strikeouts, he has been a career starter and has extensive experience in the MLB playoffs.

Status

  • 28 years
  • 6’2 tall
  • 231 pounds
  • six seasons in MLB
  • Experience even in World Series

He’s certainly a great starter for the Angels because they’re short on starting pitchers.

It should be noted that the Angels sent a couple of scouts to the show case that Justin Verlander did on Monday, November 8, 2021.
