MLB: According to executives, Carlos Correa will surprise by signing with a team where fans ‘hate’ him

Almost a month after the end of the 2022 season of MLB After the Astros championship, the vast majority of this year’s top free agents are still up for grabs. Among them the four star shortstops: Carlos CorreaTrea Turner, Xander Bogaerts, and Dansby Swanson.

This litter of shortstops are candidates for million-dollar contracts along with other “big shots” like: Aaron Judge, Justin Verlander and Jacob deGrom. In the specific case of Puerto Rican Carlos Correa, according to MLB Trade Rumors projections, he is expected to receive an offer of US$288 million for new campaigns.

Few are the teams that could cover that amount to acquire the Puerto Rican. However, a handful of executives respondents to ESPN believe that Correa will end up wearing the striped uniform of the Yankees starting in the 2023 season.

Of the dozen interviewees, four see New York as a favorite, followed by the Minnesota Twins and San Francisco Giants, tied with three. While the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox received one vote each.

It is still not at all clear which team is ahead in the negotiations with Carlos Correa, the truth is that several clubs are still seriously interested in adding him to their roster as a brand new reinforcement.
