On Tuesday’s day in the winter leagues, two Cuban starters in different leagues were in style. In the first place, Yunesky Maya shone again in the compatriots’ duel against Yoén Socarras in the Professional Baseball League of the Dominican Republic, while Misael Siverio played for Bravos de Margarita in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. Both were victorious.

Starting with Maya, he threw 5.1 scoreless innings to keep his ERA at 0.00 after 10.1 total innings thrown. The experienced right-hander allowed just two hits, walked one and struck out four in the triumph of the Águilas Cibaeñas 6 × 0 over the Leones del Escogido. He left his record at 2-0 after his first two starts of the season.

Reverse luck had Socarras. The right-hander has a poor start to the season on the mound and this time only lasted 1.0 inning into his start. In addition to taking his second setback of the year (0-2), he allowed five hits, five runs (two earned), walked one, struck out two and homered. His ERA closed the day at 9.64.

Moving on to what was done by Siverio in Venezuela, the left-hander won for the first time in the tournament (1-0), throwing 5.0 innings of six hits, three earned runs, two walks and three fans, in addition to a home run received. His PCL closed the date at 4.00. All this happened in the victory of the Braves de Margarita 4 × 3 in the first game of a double-run against the Cardenales de Lara.

Stick and stick

Going into action in the Mexican Pacific League, Maikel Serrano returned to the RBI path after spinning three games without adding RBIs. With his bat, he helped the Mayos de Navojoa beat the Naranjeros de Hermosillo 8 × 3.

Serrano went 3-for-1 with his sixth homer of the year, an RBI (23), a run scored, an intentional walk and a strikeout (.345). Eddy Martínez (Cañeros de Los Mochis) went 4-2, with his first double, a run scored, a strikeout, an error (1) and an attempted steal out (.500).

For the Tomateros de Culiacán, Yoelkis Guibert had a pair of hits in four trips to the plate, with two runs scored, a walk and a strikeout (.349). His teammate Dairon Blanco showed his speed to the maximum and ripped off three pads to reach 12 and extend his lead as the lone league leader in that department. With the bat, he finished 1-0, with scored, passport and pitch (.350).

Blank: Henry Urrutia (Sultanes de Monterrey), 4-0, with two strikeouts (.274); Yadir Drake (Algodoneros de Guasave), 3-0 (.329); and Ronnier Mustelier (Águilas de Mexicali), 4-0 (.209).

Venezuelan Professional Baseball League:

Yordanys Linares (Cardenales de Lara) had a shared performance in the double run against Bravos de Margarita. In the first game he went 3-2, with a double (2) and two RBIs (7), plus a strikeout and a stolen base. But in the second he failed his three official shifts, including fanning (.333).

Luis Avilés Jr. (Tiburones de La Guaira) is still unsettled on the Venezuelan circuit and this time he singled out of four pitches, but struck out three times (.235).
