Manager Gabe Kapler and pitcher Zach Littell of the San Francisco Giants had a confrontation in the middle of an MLB game.
After Alex Cobb pitched seven shutout innings, Zach Littell he came on and proceeded to allow four runners and two runs. Then, when Kapler got to the mound to take him out of the game, Littell shoved the ball into his manager’s hand with some force and said something that caught Kapler’s attention. Gabe Kapler and possibly he didn’t like it at all.
Notably Gabe Kapler he watched Littell as the reliever walked back to the dugout, and when the manager returned to the dugout, he was flushed and led Littell up the stairs to the tunnel to talk. It’s unclear what Littell said to Kapler, but Kapler addressed it after the game:

“Zack wanted to stay in that game,” he said. Gabe Kapler to reporters after the game. “Obviously he’s a competitor and he wanted to finish that inning. I think he just wanted me to know that he wanted to finish that entry. Obviously, there is a way to do that. Zack knows it. We discuss it. He knows that when I go out to get the ball, I just need to receive the ball, he just needs to put the ball in my hand and we’ll talk about anything later.”
Zach Littell and Kapler also met later in the manager’s office, Littell told reporters. The reliever apologized for his conduct, he said, and was sorry to the media. “It’s a learning experience and going forward, it’s something I will not allow to happen again,” Littell told reporters.

Littell didn’t have a particularly strong case for staying in the game. He allowed a double, a walk and two singles to turn a 3-0 lead into a one-run lead. A fresher Alexander was a better matchup against Olson, the left-handed slugger.
What did the pitcher say?
“I just said I loved Olson,” Littell told reporters. “It’s not like he pitched well enough to deserve that. I think any guy is going to want to finish an entry he started. That’s it, just frustration at not getting over that. No way frustration with him, just frustration with myself.”
