LVBP: Magellan comes back and defeats Leones

The Navegantes del Magallanes scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to come back and beat the Leones del Caracas 8-7, thereby reaffirming their leadership in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

Arturo Nieto hit a grounder to third base that pushed Juan Infante to tie in the ninth inning. Cade Gotta added an RBI single that gave the lead and eventually the victory to the Navigators.

Alejandro De Aza helped by hitting 5-3 with a home run and four RBIs.

Wilking Rodríguez (1-0) retired an inning in order to win the game. It was lost by José Torres (1-1), punished with two touchdowns and five hits in his one-and-a-third inning relief.

In Maracaibo, the Águilas del Zulia left the Tiburones de la Guaira on the ground and won 7-6. Angel Reyes homered the bases loaded in the seventh to tie the game, and Osleivis Basabe added an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.

Silvino Bracho won (1-0) with a blank tackle in relief work. He lost Aldry Acosta (2-1), after allowing the race of the difference in his relief of one and a third.

At La Guaira, José López hit a two-run RBI double in the top of the ninth inning, and scored on an RBI single by Heiker Meneses. The Caribes de Anzoátegui beat the Cardenales de Lara 10-9 in a tight match.

Lopez was 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and five RBIs, while Tomás Telis had two doubles and two RBIs.

At Porlamar, Josmar Cordero was 4-2 with a home run and three RBIs, and Wilfredo Giménez added a solo homer in the Aragua Tigres 6-2 victory over Margarita’s Braves.

Ramón García (2-2) stood out with five episodes of work without allowing runs. He allowed six hits and won the match.

The loss went to Misael Silveiro (1-2), after allowing five touchdowns and eight hits in five innings.

The Navegantes lead the circuit with a score of 14-7, followed by Braves (13-10), Cardinals (12-10), Leones (12-10), Sharks (10-12), Tigres (10-12), Eagles (9-14) and Caribes (8-13).
