Caribes de Anzoátegui and Navegantes del Magallanes arrive this Sunday with 2 wins in the Grand Final of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP).

In the first four duels the locality factor sets the tone but in the fifth match the sound is different.

LVBP Final: Caribbean and respond quickly

As in game number 4, Anzoátegui went ahead in the first inning. Víctor Reyes leads off with a single, Rafael “Balita” Ortega walks and both score with a double by Niuman Romero.

Another 4 arrive in the second section. Luis Sardiñas negotiates a walk, Reyes connects a hit, “Balita” walks, Junior Guerra’s wild pitch allows Sardiñas to step on the plate, Romero’s single drives 1, Willians Astudillo walks and Asdrúbal Cabrera gives an RBI ball of 2.

This fifth game in its first part reflects the same rhythm of the previous game, the give and take between the belligerents.

Keeping the tribe quiet is not an easy thing, they manage to rally 2 lines in the seventh and all after 2 outs. Cabrera hits a hit and Balbino Fuenmayor goes to the street.

Another rally materializes in the eighth with singles from Sardiñas and “Balita”, ticket for Romero more uncatchable from Astudillo and Cabrera who drive 2 and 1 respectively, this puts things on track in favor of the visitors.

The home side are very far apart, they score another 2 on their last chance but it is insufficient and they give up 15×10.

Pino wins (1-0, 7.20) in the game that concludes his long career of 18 years in the LVBP. He allows 5 earned runs, 7 hits, 1 walk and strikes out 4.

Junior Guerra loses (0-1, 12.86), severely punished in his opening. They score 7, all clean, they give him 5 hits, he gives 3 passports and he recipes 1 chocolate.

Caribes regains the lead in the decisive event, now 3-2, and returns to his shack to try to retain his title.
