Luis Castillo generates interest in multiple Major League teams

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Luis Castillo is generating interest from multiple MLB teams.

A report by Jon Heyman of the New York Post revealed that the New York Mets, the Minnesota Twins and the San Diego Padres are the teams most interested in making a trade with the Reds to keep the Dominican right-hander.

New York Mets and the need for Luis Castillo.

Injuries have hampered the Mets’ rotation all season, so it’s no surprise the team is rumored to have the best starting pitchers on the trade market. The team currently has Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, Tylor Megill and potentially Carrasco on the disabled list.

Castillo will be one of the most coveted starting pitchers at the deadline. The right-hander is 2-4 with a 3.71 ERA in nine starts this season. He was unable to debut the season until May 9 due to a shoulder injury.

San Diego Padres.

This team has an excellent pitching staff with names like Blake Snell, Yu Darvish, Joe Musgrove, Mike Clevinger and MacKenzie Gore, but they know that adding Luis Castillo could be a determining factor in the Dodgers winning the division.

Minnesota Twins.

If there’s one thing this team needs is pitching, so they’ll be looking for Luis Castillo to team up with Sonny Gray again in the team’s rotation as they look to dethrone the Cleveland Guardians for first place in the AL Central. It’s worth noting that the Twins have several interesting prospects that the Cincinnati Reds would like.

Los Angeles Dodgers.

This is one of the best rotations in the MLB and, in turn, one of the most affected thanks to injuries. Since 2020 the Dodgers don’t have a full month with all their flying pitchers and 2022 is no exception, they currently have Dustin May and Walker Buehler out, so the possible acquisition of Castillo would be great for the team.
