Colombian sport experienced a unique feat this week, after Caimanes de Barranquilla will be crowned champion of the Caribbean Series, the tournament of baseball most important regionally. What the ninth coastal team has achieved is not minor at all, as it is the first time that a national team has won that title, which in soccer terms is the equivalent of the Copa Libertadores.
Lovers of sports in general, not just baseball, celebrated in recent days what was achieved by Caimanes. In the midst of this festive atmosphere, comparisons with the Colombia selectionwho has been suffering from a crisis of results for months that worsened in their last two games and now they have almost no chance of qualifying for the World Cup Qatar 2022.
The curious thing was that the comparisons and the claims were made on behalf of a publication made by the Colombian Football Federation. The governing body of national football publicly congratulated Caimanes, something that sparked numerous reactions against the National Team in the comments.
There were quite a few users who complained to the members of the national team for not having outstanding results such as those achieved by the ninth barranquillera. The word “learn” was the one that appeared the most in the responses to the tweet made by the Colombian Football Federation.
