Aroldis chapman It has gone through three phases in the 2021 season thus far. It got off to a dizzying, legendary start. Through June 6 he saved 12 of 13 chances and won four games without losing, leaving a 0.39 ERA and a 16.8 K / 9.

Then he had a losing streak that lasted until July 4, when he had a clean average of 22.24 and a K / 9 of 9.5. Yes! He allowed 14 deserved touchdowns and struck out just six in 5.2 innings of action.

His performance began to improve again and stabilize to the point of once again having the responsibility of closing the games hit by the Yankees. In his last 11 appearances he is perfect in terms of saves. He has seven out of seven chances. He exhibits a 0.82 ERA and has been instrumental in the rebound of the Yankees who are looking to come back to sneak into the postseason.

It was strange not to see the Holguin player throw in this Friday’s game against the Seattle Mariners, which the Yankees won in 11 innings, three touchdowns by two. The explanation could be the excessive amount of pitches used the day before against that same team.

BOX SCORE

Chapman threw 30 times for the plate in Thursday’s game in which he got the 23rd rescue of the campaign and 299 for life, reaffirming himself as a historic leader among Cubans. The left-handed closer hadn’t put in such an effort in exactly two years. On August 5, 2018, he made 39 against the Boston Red Sox.

This Saturday 7, the team announced that the Cuban was placed on the disabled list for 10 days retroactively from day 6. The movement is due to an inflammation in the left elbow of the Missile, the remainder of the series of weekend and the beginning of the next at least.

Prior to today’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves: • Placed LHP Aroldis Chapman on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to 8/6) with left elbow inflammation. • Recalled RHP Nick Nelson (# 79) from Triple-A Scranton / Wilkes-Barre.
