Last minute! Dodgers designate Corey Knebel to start NLCS

Corey Knebel has been designated as the starting pitcher of the game one of the Championship Series between the Dodgers of the Angels and the Braves from Atlanta.

The right-hander will be fulfilling the function of initiator of a bullpen game with which the Dodgers will try to get up early in this Championship Series. Recall that the pitcher who had all the ballots to take the reins of the match from the first inning, Max Scherzer, was employed as the closer for game five of the Divisional Series against the San Fracisco Giants.

That same day the culichi Julio Urías had thrown in four chapters (a day of rest today) and Walker Buehler (he is on his third day of recovery this day) had been in charge of the box in the fourth match of the Series with reduced rest.

Scherzer threw 13 balls in the epic ninth inning going past 97 mph and was one of the players who most enthusiastically celebrated the Dodgers’ victory over the San Francisco Giants. Since then the possibility that he was the starter of the Championship Series for the Dodgers has been questioned.

Corey Knebel was also the designated pitcher for Thursday’s start when the Los Angeles Dodgers faced a game of life and death. The pitcher has fulfilled the role of initiator, counting the recent game against the Giants, five times in the 2021 MLB season.

In that game, before releasing the box to Brusdar Graterol, he pitched 13 pitches, struck out a batter and allowed a solo hit.

The script established by the Dodgers’ board today could contemplate, after the initiator, some entries by Tony Gonsolin, who is on the roster of 26 announced players and has not had participation in the current postseason. The right-hander has an 8.68 ERA after four appearances in October 2020 when the Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series.

Will there be more surprises in the remainder before the start of the match?
