IMPRESSIVE: Former Industriales player RBI 7 in a single Minor League game

By Yasel Porto

Although the main starters of the Cubans in the Minor Leagues have fallen to names like Miguel Antonio Vargas, Norge Luis Ruiz, César Prieto, Lorenzo Quintana or the White Sox army, others have also done enough to deserve an independent space.

One of them is former Industriales outfielder Víctor Labrada, who has had a brilliant week in Class A with Modesto Nuts, a branch of the Seattle Mariners organization.

Special mention for what happened this Wednesday the 27th against the Fresno Grizzlies, when the left-hander stole the show as leadoff hitter and center fielder after finishing with three hits in five at-bats, along with a home run and no less than seven RBIs.

Labrada’s four corner hit occurred in the fourth inning against Dominican starter Brayan Castillo, in a challenge in which the Cuban team won 10×9 after leaving their rivals on the field.

But the next day the man from Havana wanted to continue the party and although he did not reach that impressive amount of trailers, at least he homered again and finished with three charters to the rubber.

In the first game of the confrontation with the team from the Californian city (Fresno) Labrada had also been the best offensively for Modesto after going 5-3 with a double, to which we could add that in the last game of the previous duel he finished with four hits, a pair of bi-angles and an RBI.

After having had very good work in the minor categories in Cuba, Víctor Labrada was promoted to Industriales in the 2018-19 campaign. He played little but showed that he had talent as a touch hitter and defensively as an outfielder (he went 9-for-25 with one homer and three RBIs).
