Health Minister asks baseball fans not to remove their masks in stadiums

Do not remove the mask while they are in the baseball stadiums to avoid contagion of Covid-19 and other respiratory conditions, is the call made by the Minister of Public Health, Daniel Rivera, to the fans who are going to the different stadiums of the country to enjoy the fall-winter baseball tournament that began on October 27.

He said that even though in the stadiums the requirement to request the vaccination card to enter the tournaments is being met And that even many people are getting vaccinated there, it is being observed that some remove their mask while enjoying the game.

It reported that the Ministry of Public Health sent a communication to the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) recalling that the protocol agreements signed between both sectors specify the distance, the use of a mask inside the stadiums and the requirement of the vaccination card.

He called on fans to maintain self-care, keeping their distance and wearing a mask, because otherwise restrictive measures would have to be taken, which would take away the enjoyment of that recreational activity.

800 daily vaccinations

He said that in the inspection carried out by the Ministry of Health it is observed that the requirement of the vaccination card is being applied and that even since the tournament began about 800 people are being vaccinated daily in the different stadiums of the country.

Even, Minister Rivera pointed out, he has been surprised to see older people who had not been vaccinated and who have done so when going to baseball stadiums to enjoy baseball games.

“The Baseball League has made every effort, a fan is a fan, but we (Ministry of Public Health) we will be with regular inspectors supervising and insisting on distancing and the use of a mask inside the stadiums ”, he pointed out.

He also added that they will continue to insist and motivate people to get vaccinated to reach 70% of the vaccinated population so that there is greater freedom, but for that everyone must contribute, in addition, with distancing, the use of a mask and hygiene, so as not to lose what has been gained so far.
