The realization of the 2021-2022 tournament of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) is in danger, as stated by the president of the country’s main rental peloteril circuit, Guiseppe Palmisano, in information issued by journalist Guillermo Liñares through his account Twitter

“We are behind. I am worried because the days go by and we do not have a clear picture. The 2021-2022 season is in danger today,” Palmisano stressed.

Under this scenario, the top leader of the LVBP explained that they are currently waiting for the renewal of the license issued by the United States Department of the Treasury through the Office of Foreign Assets Control (Ofac for its acronym in English) , so that both players and coaches of the organizations of the Major League system can participate in the local League.

Palmisano adds that in the first instance said renewal is awaited for six of the members of the circuit, before requesting the corresponding one from Navegantes del Magallanes and Tigres de Aragua, teams that in the two preceding tournaments were vetoed by Ofac.

The 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 editions of the Venezuelan League experienced a similar situation to be able to take place, however they were solved which allowed the realization of both tournaments although with different start dates than the traditional ones of October .

The 2019 one started on November 5, leading to a reduction in the number of games, from 63 to 42.

Last year the COVID-19 pandemic was added to the situation with the Ofac, an eventuality that in the same way upset the start date, becoming on that occasion November 27, which forced to carry part of the elimination round to the month of January. The calendar consisted of 40 matches per team.
