On the afternoon of this Saturday, September 18, it was announced that Terry Francona could return as manager of the Cleveland ‘Tribe’ for the 2022 season of the MLB. Francona would regain the position he had to leave this year in the middle of the campaign due to health problems that needed to be taken care of.
The Athletic journalist Zack Meisel recently reported that Cleveland is not ruling out Terry Francona to continue as manager of the ‘Tribe’ next season, as commented by Chris Antonetti, the team’s president.
The veteran decided to leave the team mid-season to take care of health issues, such as ailments in the left toe area and hip area at the time.
Francona has already undergone the surgery he required and his absence left bench coach DeMarlo Hale as interim manager. Since that time Cleveland has posted a 21-25 win-loss record.
The Cleveland ‘Tribe’ is in second place in the AL Central with a negative record of 72-74 in games won and lost so far in the 2021 MLB Season.
