Gleyber looks inspired by his parents

In this new 2022 Major League season, there are many goals and numbers that Gleyber Torres wants to achieve with the New York Yankees. The Venezuelan, he has been many times in the names that have received criticism or that the fans demand a good performance per season and that is that the talent is there and almost everyone can see it.

Gleyber, however, seems to block out that outside noise and focus on what could be his biggest major league campaign. Recently, Torres became a father and this led me to interview him, to find out not only how he is doing in his new role, but also about the influence that his father, Eusebio Torres, has had on his career:

“I think that is everything. Since I can remember, he has always been with me, supporting me through thick and thin. It has been fundamental in my career with my mother obviously. I don’t think I have a life to thank them.”

His dad is his number one fan and this is something Gleyber told me he tries to pass on to his newly born son:

“I only ask God that he be healthy and if he wants to play baseball, then let him play, but I will always give him all the support in the world so that when he comes of age, he does not do it for money but for the love of this sport”

This 2022, arrives for Gleyber Torres with the new motivation of his baby and with that of being able to shut up the mouths that have criticized him in the past. His projections are good. Almost all specialized systems indicate that he could average more than .260, hit more than 25 home runs and drive in more than 80 runs. Lineup protection is there. The one from Caracas, Venezuela, has high caliber bats ahead of him and is also patient at the plate, this can place him sixth or seventh in the batting order, giving him the chance to see excellent pitches from rival pitchers.

“Now my son is a great motivation,” the Bronx Bombers second baseman told us.

As for the best advice from his father Eusebio, this is what Gleyber remembers every day and tries to emulate:

“Stay humble is my dad’s advice. That when people are humble, all doors open to them”
