The awards of the season MLB finally they were given and specifically in the delivery of the MVP’s of both the National League and the American League, there was a lot of controversy and discontent mainly among the Latin American fans and especially the Dominicans, as Bryce Harper and Shohei Ohtani’s accolade came to the detriment of three of his compatriots in Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Soto and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
The truth is that the Dominican Republic continues to be quite uneasy and the former Major League pitcher, Jose Veras, who played more than 10 seasons in MLB with the Yankees, Cubs, Astros among others, lashed out hard at the Major League leadership accusing them of “double face “and” hypocrites “after the disdain they made to the MVP nominations of their compatriots, as he commented on the Z Deportes radio program with Héctor Gómez.
The Major Leagues (sic) are double-sided in every way. Whenever it has taken the turn that a Latino have to give his award as he deserved, they go the other way. Why do you tell me that Ohtani beats Vlad the MVP? Ah because we had 100 years that we did not see it, unanimous. So what Vladimir Guerrero Jr. did is not worth it? They want to cover the Asian business, like a very wide world, very big, to bring advertising for them to earn more money.
No doubt there will continue to be controversy regarding the criteria that voters used to give or not the award to certain players, taking into account that each of the 6 finalists had great seasons and that in one way or another, whoever won the MVP would have been deserved in its own right.
