The Cuban National Team managed to get hold of the bronze medal in the first Junior Pan American Games Cali-Valle 2021 after managing to beat the Venezuelan team with a 9 × 1 slate.

The match started with a great starting duel between left-hander from Matanzas Naykel Cruz and Venezuelan right-hander Frank de Jesús López during the first two innings in which only three runners were able to reach the pads for tickets.

It was then at the opening of the third chapter that the Edgar Renteria stadium slate underwent changes by combining a line double through the center field of the masker Ariel Pestano Jr, a single by bartender Tony Guerra, a ticket to Roberto Álvarez and a rolling by second base from Carlos Rodríguez who allowed Pestano to score, although a technical error by the Venezuelan receiver greatly influenced this score.

But the greatest emotions in the match were yet to come in the fourth inning as the Cubans took out all the offense that they had not shown in the tournament to define the match with a great cluster of eight touchdowns and six hits including the huge home run through the outfield. Guillermo García, first from Cuba in the youth event, right.

Another great demonstration provided on the box Naykel who, without having the same control of his previous presentation, managed to work during five chapters in which he barely allowed a single while striking seven strikeouts and conceding four walks.

As in the previous confrontation, the body of relievers showed weaknesses and when the Matanzas player left, the Rookie of the Year Marlon Vega could not do justice to having to give the box to José Eduardo Santos with a full house and just one out, but fortunately the new pitcher managed to retire the pinch-hitter Anderson Melendez to end the anguish in that inning.

Much influenced the changes that the mentor Eriel Sánchez introduced in the lineup since the weight of the offense went to the men who occupied the so-called low run by connecting seven hits with five RBIs and six runs scored.

In this way, the under-23 team manages to improve the result they obtained in the last World Championship of the category held just a few months ago.
