This brilliant performance and his great admiration for Puerto Rican Yadier Molina, whom he considers his idol, led him to start his journey to Las Mayores.

“I always dreamed of belonging to and playing in an MLB organization, that’s why I decided to leave the country after returning from the World Cup in Panama, I think that was the best moment because I had shown that I could play professional baseball,” says the young man.

There are multiple changes these young people face once they leave Cuba in their preparation prior to making their presentations to the different Major League teams.

“I was two years in the Dominican Republic, where everything is different, you have to prepare to do tryouts and not to play, the preparation is very different and very strong, I put a lot of emphasis on improving my speed and my physique, which in the end was what helped me the most ”.

In February 2021, after all that exhausting training period, the Angels signed the Cuban after making a brilliant presentation.

“Thank God in February I was able to sign with the Angels, whom I thank very much for trusting me and my talent. I feel very happy in this organization and I hope to do my best to get to the big leagues as soon as possible. “

During his Minor League debut, Edgar posted impressive numbers both on and behind the tree. home plate that allowed him to be promoted in a short time to class A.

“I really feel very happy for my debut, it was a difficult season because I had to adapt to many new things, the difference with respect to Cuba is quite a lot because here you see 18-19 year old pitchers throwing 95-96 miles. It was a good year for me, although I was able to give more, in this one, if God allows and I stay healthy, I will do great things ”.

“When I was in the Rookie category I remember a tied game that was suspended due to rain in the 9th inning and we resumed it the next day. At the beginning I told my teammates that I was going to decide and it was my turn at bat in the end of 10th with a runner on second and two outs on the board, I took advantage of a good pitch and hit a home run ”.

In the last days of 2021 you were selected as the most defensive receiver among the main Los Angeles prospects. Did it cross your mind that you achieved this in such a short term?

-Firstly I thank God for this achievement, the news surprised me because I did not expect to be the best defensive receiver in my organization in just one year, I do not like to focus much on the numbers but I knew I had had a good season. Although I never imagined being the most defensive this year ”.

“In this new year I will work hard to help the team in everything I can and finish in a stronger category than the one I started, that will always be my goal until I get to the Big Show,” he said.

We cannot conclude without a message that you want to convey to your followers.

-I send a hug to all those people who follow and support me in each of my performances, of course thank you very much to Swing Completo for closely following the work of all the young people who work in Minor Leagues, keep doing that great I work every day.
