What Albert Pujols Y Deidrethe mother of his four children, are in divorce It does not mean that whoever was his partner for more than 20 years is estranged from the player.
Pujols returns to play officially with the cardinals this Thursday and Deidre, in the midst of a recovery after being operated on the brain, took the opportunity to write a message on her account instagram where he wished the Dominican the best and updated on the family situation.
“Today I am excited to celebrate what will be an incredible baseball experience for our family, baseball fans and baseball history as we watch Albert begin the 2022 season reunited with the St. Louis Cardinals where it all began for our family years ago. ”, start the post.
“I had a great chat with Albert this morning, we talked about today’s events and everything that will happen, we pray together to set the energy for the day and he is excited as all of us. He has been one of the most disciplined athletes in his sport that I have ever met and how God has used his life on and off the field has always blown my mind! I am very happy that he has one more year to play! Despite the most recent increase in media attention on our personal lives, I would never miss an opportunity to send love and blessings to someone I have spent most of my life with and will always be connected to.”
“Our children will be there to support him and if he could have, he would have been there to celebrate this special event as well. However, I will be there in spirit and watching from home as I continue to recover from surgery. Thanks to all the fans who have watched and supported his historic run, we will probably never see anyone do what Albert has done in this game again in our lifetime,” Deidre finished.
During the period in which the couple was married, the Dominican baseball player earned around US$350 million.
Just days before, Deidre had successfully undergone surgery to remove a brain tumor, and with Opening Day just around the corner, Albert’s return to St. Louis was no longer the main story.
Since then, new details have emerged and TMZ Sports is now reporting that the couple split in February due to “irreconcilable differences.”
“I realize this is not the most opportune time with Opening Day approaching and other family events that have taken place recently,” Pujols said in a statement, through his agent Dan Lozano. “These situations are never easy and it’s not something that happened overnight.”
Married for 22 years, the couple have five children and Pujols, 42, is reportedly seeking joint custody of their three minor children.
“I am grateful for the five beautiful children we brought into this world and remain committed to raising them in a loving and safe environment,” Pujols said.
Pujols did not go into detail about the divorcebut said he has leaned on the Lord during the process.
“As a devout Christian, this is an outcome I never wanted to see happen,” Pujols said. “For many long days and nights, I prayed, asking the Lord for his guidance.”
