BROKE WITH THE FEDERATION: Talented Cuban pitcher got tired of injustices

By Full Swing

The talented Camagüey pitcher Yosimar Cousín decided to end his relationship with the Cuban Baseball Federation and thus begin to forge his destiny from now on in an individual sporting manner.

As published by the Comarca de los Toros site, the right-hander from Agramon requested the removal of the entity in order to have the freedom to negotiate a contract on his own in the league that is interested in his services, but above all to be able to leave the list of regulated when undertaking a trip abroad.

The main cause of this decision is known to the whole world. Both Cousín and Santiago closer Yunior Tur had been removed from all teams to international events in 2021 despite their excellent results in the last baseball season. This coupled with their conditions that place them among the pitchers with the best speed and talent in general of those left on the island.

The last straw was the call for the last two U-23 teams, both the team that finished fourth in the world competition held in Mexico and in the preselection recently grouped to prepare for the I Youth Pan American Games to be held in the southern city Colombian from Cali.

Suspicions that both would decide to leave a team abroad was the reason for the technical commission, logically guided by the Cuban State Security, to dismiss the services of these two young monticulistas.

While it is true that Cousín has had his ups and downs in Cuban baseball and at this point his statistics could be even better, there is no doubt that many times he showed that he had a lot ahead of him. He was indispensable in the subtitle reached by Camagüey in the 60th National Series along with other members of a pitching staff that became the best in the country.

In the last fight he pitched for 7-6 and 5.68 of PCL with 76 strikeouts. Since he arrived at Cuban baseball in 2014-15, the 1998-born man had a balance of 15-16, still far from his real potential.

He entered the occasional national team but for two years he has not left Cuba, between the scarcity of events and then because of the aforementioned about his exclusion in 2021.

And not only was he marginalized from how much Cuba team formed this year, but he was also not part of any hiring and not precisely because of a lack of quality to sign in leagues in which he fits by a wide margin.

According to sources close to Cousín, he was investigated for an alleged immigration plan, but in the end they could not prove anything to him.

What is certain is that now we will see the lanky pitcher outside of any ties to Cuban baseball, be it Camaguey or the national team. Their sporting and social future will be elsewhere because the impetus that they lacked to make that determination was already given to them a couple of weeks ago when they announced a new sub-23 preselection that was missing 12 players who stayed in Mexico and it couldn’t fit either. Once again they told him very clearly the decision he had to make and that today it seems to be official.

Hopefully and his plans are not stopped and retaliation is taken with the athlete, especially preventing him from legally leaving the Island after he gets a contract somewhere. It would be the height of all this although it would not surprise either.
