Brewers sweep doubleheader at Wrigley

CHICAGO – Luis Urías had two hits during a six-touchdown attack in the fifth inning, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 6-3 on Tuesday night to complete a double-run sweep.

The night game was interrupted an hour and 29 minutes by rain, when there was an out in the top of the third inning. That limited starter Aaron Ashby to just two scoreless innings.

Milwaukee then used six pitchers to complete the last five acts. Miguel Sánchez (1-0) made a single pitch to get the last out of the fourth inning, and won the victory.

The Brewers, leaders of the NL Central, are 36-19 on the road, the best in the majors.

Patrick Wisdom homered for Chicago, which has lost six games in a row.

In the first game, Freddy Peralta pitched effectively into the sixth inning, Avisaíl Garcia hit a two-run homer for the lead and the Brewers won 4-2.

Willy Adames and Lorenzo Cain also homered for Milwaukee.

Peralta (9-3) allowed two runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings. The Dominican right-hander, selected to the All-Star Game, struck out eight and walked a pair.

Devin Williams got the last three outs for his second save after allowing the bases to be loaded with one out in the seventh inning. Williams struck out Patrick Wisdom and Greg Deichmann to end the match.

Frank Schwindel fired a double for Chicago.

Cubs rookie Justin Steele (2-1) allowed three runs and five hits in a five-inning effort that marked his first career start.

In the evening duel, for the Brewers, the Dominican Adames 3-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Venezuelans Escobar 4-2 with a run scored, Garcia 3-1 with one run scored and two RBIs, Manny Piña 3-0. The Mexican Urías 3-1. The Dominican Peralta 2-1.

For the Cubs, Venezuelans Rafael Ortega 4-3, Willson Contreras 3-0. Dominican Sandy Alcántara 2-1 with a run scored.

In the second game, for the Brewers, the Dominican Adames 3-1 with a run scored. Venezuelans Omar Narváez 4-1 with a scored and a RBI, Escobar 4-2 with a scored and a RBI, Garcia without an official turn but with a scored. The Mexican Urías 3-2 with one scored and one produced.

For the Cubs, Venezuelans Ortega 3-1, Robinson Chirinos 2-0, Contreras 1-0. Johneshwy Fargas 3-2 with an RBI. Dominican Sandy Alcantara 1-0.
