Among Cubans, only Canseco was faster than Pito to 214 MLB home runs

This Saturday, Jose Dariel Abreu rose to the fifth place of Cuban home runners in Big leagues by shooting his 214 home run and thus breaking the tie he held with Kendrys morales. The curious thing – and shocking! – is that only one of the men who is ahead of him on the list managed to reach that figure faster than he.

It’s about the controversial Jose Canseco -Second of all time on the island list with 462 homers-, who between 1985 and 1992 produced some formidable campaigns with Oakland flannel under the cover of a cocktail made up of his natural talent and steroid syringes.

However, none of the other stars who preceded Pito managed to match him in homing frequency per games played and times at bat to reach 214 full-back bats. They are the cases of Rafael Palmeiro (leader with 569), Tany perez (third with 379) and Tony Oliva (fourth with 220).

The table that follows compares the Giant of Bad Weather with his illustrious compatriots.
