Albert Pujols files for divorce from his wife after 22 years

The Dominican Albert Pujols requested a divorce from his wife Deidre, letting him know through a public statement before his fans and friends of the MLB.

Albert Pujols announced Monday that his time with his wife deirre has finished, since the Dominican has requested the divorce once and for all after 22 years of marriage. This was with Pujols since before being in the MLB.

“I have been asked many questions in recent days about what has been going on at home and sadly, after 22 years of marriage, I have made the decision to file for divorce from my wife, Deidre,” Pujols said in a statement released. by his agent, Dan Lozano.

“I realize that this is not the most opportune time due to Opening Day and other family events that have taken place recently. These situations are never easy and it’s not something that happened overnight.”

This offseason, Pujols signed a one-year deal to return to the Cardinals, where he previously played from 2001 to 2011.

He and Deidre had been married since 2000. Pujols concluded his statement by noting that he and Deidre “remain committed” to raising their five children “in a loving and safe environment.”
