Since the 16 leading teams of the 61st National Series announced their official rosters for the championship, fans have flooded social networks with complaints of unjustified player absences. The Holguín team was not exempt from controversy and strong criticism from its followers.

In the afternoon of this Saturday, January 22, Julio Alberto Alarcón, who is an active collaborator of “The Complete Swing Show”, main program of our YouTube channel, claimed on his Facebook profile the presence of a talented Cubs catcher. The faithful follower of the Holguin players requested the entrance of the mask to the first team, after the departure of one of the current defenders of the position.

“Michael Álvarez could be called to the team again, as a result of the departure of the fourth catcher, Henry Benítez, who was called to be part of the softball team that will play in Nicaragua.”

According to Alberto Alarcón, Álvarez possesses great skills behind the plate and can defend third base with similar efficiency. He also refers that his bat could help the cause of the whole “City of Parks”.

The fan concluded his publication with a request to the team’s management. “To the officials of the Cubs please consider this very talented young man.” He also asked to be offered the opportunity to wear the shirt of his province again.

The official Holguín payroll, published by the digital newspaper JIT, reflected the presence of four players in Michael’s position. Undoubtedly, the main figure in the position is Franklin Aballe, who will have Luis Laffita and Víctor Paz as the main substitutes, before the departure of the aforementioned: Benítez. That way, Álvarez could have a spot on the 40-man roster.
