NEW YORK – Atlanta outfielder Joc Pederson and Boston infielder Kyle Schwarber were among 10 players who declared free agents Thursday, rejecting mutual options that allowed them to renew their contracts in 2022.
Pederson signed a $ 7 million, one-year contract with the Chicago Cubs in February, including a $ 4.5 million salary and a $ 10 million mutual option with a $ 2.5 million release clause.
In July, he was traded to the Braves, whom he helped win their first World Series title since 1995.
Pederson hit two home runs and drove five runs in the division series against Milwaukee. He homered and produced four runs in the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In the Fall Classic against Houston, he was 1-for-15.
