The Government of the United States granted the necessary permission for the Cuban-born baseball players who play in Major League Baseball (MLB) can participate in the World Baseball Classic (WBC). Knowing this news, names have begun to emerge from possible representatives of this Antillean country in the event of 2023.
Cuba has exported an outstanding number of baseball players for the Major Leagues and next year they could be part of this country’s National Team in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) to be held in March.
Among the MLB players who could attend this event are Luis Robert and Yoan Moncada of the Chicago White Sox. In addition, there are other figures such as Yuli and Lourdes Gurriel and José Abreu, veterans who could ‘raise their hands’ to represent the Antillean country.
Cuba’s roster would be made up of major league players who would add those who have experience in other professional baseball leagues around the world. To mention a few, Henry Urrutia (LMB and LIDOM) and Onelki García (LMB and LMP).
The participation of the Cuban National Team in the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) was in doubt due to the political situation in the country and that is related to the United States and its laws.
