The Dominican shortstop Willy Adames is eligible for free agency after the 2024 season, but has expressed his desire to continue playing with the Brewers. To that end, Adames told MLB.com reporter Adam McCalvy that the two sides “have had discussions” about a possible long-term agreement and that “I let them know that I obviously want to stay” in Milwaukee.
I’m always open to hear what they think, and if it’s something good for both parties, I’m open. I let my agent handle that. I love it here, I feel good here, I feel comfortable here and I wish I could stay here for the rest of my career.”
The exact timing of these conversations is unknown, although they took place sometime before the famous David Stearns to resign as Brewers President of Baseball Operations at the end of last October.

It is also not known the nature or extent of the negotiations, for example, if Adames’s front office and agents at CAA Sports only had some extensive discussions about Adames’ future, or if they actually exchanged some floating contract numbers or scenarios. .
