Historic Suns with 18 wins in a row

The Phoenix Suns couldn’t count with his star Devin Booker due to a hamstring injury, but this situation was not an impediment to make history in the NBA. The Arizona team achieved their new franchise record with 18 straight wins by beating the Detroit Pistons 103-114 in their fiefdom.

Phoenix’s bench led the offense with 19 points from Cameron Johnson and Cameron Payne respectively. Likewise, Mikal Bridges had 18 points, and inside DeAndre Ayton had a new double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The team led by Monty Williams has not lost an official game since last October 28 against the Kings, and is currently leading the NBA with a record of 19 wins and only three losses.

“At no time have we talked about any streak because we have always focused on improving. But it’s really cool to be a part of this, ”Williams admitted.

In the absence of his star for the first time we took him on course, his offense was very distributed with up to seven players in double-digit scoring and scandal percentages: 54% in field goals and 57% in triples. Also, his bench destroyed that of his rival by a wide 48-20.

“It is very difficult to win in this league and we are not satisfied, but this record is special. Doing it in front of our fans, in a city as special as this and with so much history, and I want my players to enjoy it, “explained Williams.

For their part, the Detroit Pistons still do not raise their heads with their eighth loss in a row. Jerami Grant was the most outstanding of the visitors with 34 points and a 10 of 19 in shots of field; alongside rookie Cade Cunningham with 19 points and 5 basket passes. Dwane Casey’s men are last in the East with a 4-18 record.

We will learn from all this. We are growing, “said the Detroit coach.
