LAST MINUTE: José Abreu was selected the Player of the Month in the American League

A few minutes ago, the Major League Baseball organization announced the most outstanding players of August on its official Twitter account. The Cuban guy Jose Dariel AbreuAfter sustaining another month at the highest level, he was recognized as the best player in the American League.

The Most Valuable Player of last season in the American League, José Abreu won the award for the best player of the month of August, after surpassing with relative ease what he achieved in previous months of this season.

“Pito” Abreu shot 37 indisputable hits in 112 hits to the batting box, for an effective .330 average, surpassing what he achieved in the month of May, when he reached 28 hits in 84 legal at-bats, although at that time his offensive average was slightly higher, at .333.

On the other hand, there was his long-range hitting, with 17 extra-base hits; divided into seven doubles and 10 home runs. Previously, his best figure was also achieved in May, with six missing balls and five connected biangular balls.

Even more significant was his contribution to the team. The Cuban drove in 25 teammates and scored 22 times, generating a total of 37 RBIs, equaling with the fifth month of the year, when he drove in 27 runs and hit the plate 16 times.

In addition to Abreu, CJ Cron was named the most outstanding of the month in the National League. AL and NL pitchers Robbie Ray and Adam Wainwright, respectively. Also, they chose the relievers of the month, Emmanuel Clase and Devin Williams, following the same order. Lastly, they selected the rookies, Bobby Dalbec and Frank Scwindel.
